As it is national apprentice week between the 7th and 13th February 2022, we wanted to highlight how apprenticeships are a great way to start in the property profession. We would also like to our share our own success stories of hiring Apprentices.
Apprenticeships are a great way for young people to step into the world of work whilst gaining a meaningful qualification at the same time.

We hired two apprentices back in 2016. Both were 17 and they were undertaking administration apprenticeships.
Following a very successful year we instantly hired both apprentices at the end of the process. Now 6/7 years on and they both still work for Lewis Haughton Wills Lettings. Both our ladies are Senior Listing Negotiators and the best in our area. They have forged relationships with our clients and are passionate about finding landlords tenants and potential tenants homes.
They both own their own homes whilst in their early 20’s, which in Cornwall due to high house prices is very rare. One of the ladies has just achieved her level 3 in Residential Lettings and Property Management, and the second has half her exams complete and will gain the qualification within the next few months.
Emma White and Millie Campbell are amazing assets to our company, they have grown with us and the business. They are core members of the team and we wouldn’t be without them. We think the apprenticeship for them was an introduction to a career they did not know that they could have, and they both really enjoy the job. It has enabled them to become part of the core team and excel in our company.

We wanted to take on an apprentice so we could train and mentor a young person. This is such a great industry to work in and young people are not made aware of this as a career option. We have been attending local school careers fairs. Following one fair we now have two great young people who are coming to do their work experience with us in March 2022. We are passionate about getting young people interested in property.
The apprenticeships are very rewarding as the trainees get to work in a professional environment learning real life skills and business skills all whilst earning a qualification. The top reasons for going into the property profession.

There are many options for young people who have an interest in property and we now have apprenticeships for all aspects of property such as the Housing and Property Management Level 3 in conjunction with Propertymark. This is great for young people who want to become property professionals, to work full time and gain a qualification which is acknowledged by the industry.
